Fishbone Diagram

History has taught us to be prepared for the unexpected;  COVID-19 reminded the nation that threats can be invisible to the naked eye.  These Biological threats can rise from all types of biological sources such as animals, fungal, bacterial, or of plant and marine origin.  These biotoxins produced from these biota when aerosolized have the potential to cause a compounding effect on respiratory absorption which leads to human fatality (Clark & Pazdernick, 2016).  The following is a fishbone diagram depicting cause-effect of biologic weapon fatality and sources of origin.

Mind Mapping

Melioidosis is an infectious disease that derives naturally in the south pacific around south east Asia and Australia.  This naturally occurring bacteria is found in soil. B. pseudomallei is the known cause of this disease (Birnie, Virk, Savelkoel, Spijker, Bertherat, Limmathurotsakul, Devleesschauwer, Haagsma & Wiersinga, 2019).  Bioterrorism has been associated as a potential threat utility with B. psuedomallei. In order to mediate potential risks from exposure from overseas packaging plants, stronger regulations in oversea inspections need to be performed to minimize import exposure.  Below is a flow chart of a management technique to minimize possible Melioidosis infections in the United States.

Quality Improvement

Public policy and government ran systems are in a shift with the molding of technology into interoperable provinces and away from silos.  The emerging technology is adapting to outdated policy measures.  One division that needs an update is the area of quality improvements in skilled nursing.  The following is an article describing one such method on revamping the skilled nursing initiative to fit meaningful use objectives.
